My Handy Dandy Benefit’s Blush in Dandelion

One of my past Sephora 500 point perks was a Benefit package that came with Dandelion blush, that GAL mascara, and a brightening primer.  The Dandelion blush retails for $36CAD (for 7.0g) , so I was excited to swap my points for it! This blush is supposed to be used as a brightening powder.

“Fake awake with Dandelion—Benefit’s ballerina-pink pressed highlighting powder. Just one stroke of Dandelion takes your complexion from dull to radiant in an instant. It’s shimmery, satiny, radiant, perk-me-up finish is guaranteed to make them wonder …”How do you look so pretty at eight in the morning?” – Sephora

Dandelion box powder

The blush is in a sturdy cardboard box. The lid closes down with a magnetic snap.  The case could be a bit bulky if you want to carry it around.

Inside

Within the packaging, there is a small, flat brush upon the blush, and also a mirror. I think the concept of the brush is great but the quality of the brush is only satisfactory. It’s not soft and it’s a bit pokey. Also, I don’t think it’s hygienic keeping a brush in there.

Blush and Bristles

As you can see, the bristles are also in a disarray.I prefer to use another brush to apply this product on.

Upclose of blush colour

The colour is a very light, soft pink- it was fairly difficult to capture a swatch on my hand.

Wearing dandelion

For the colour to actually show up on my cheeks, I have to swipe 3-4  times to get a light pigmentation. Once worn, the colour payoff is very natural and sheer. I do enjoy the “natural look” however  I wish I could put less on to get a better colour payoff. There is some shimmer integrated in the blush as well. It is not very noticeable, unless the sparkle hits the light at a certain angle.

There is also a soft, floral powdery scent, but unnoticed when worn.

Ingredients

These are the ingredients. If you can make out the writing, there are parabens in the product.

Conclusion: I think this is a great colour for people with a lighter complexion so it would show up better. However, I can still look natural, but awake with this product. I have been using it for quite some time now, and I haven’t hit the bottom of the pan yet! However, due to the high cost of this product, I don’t see myself actually purchasing it.

What are your thoughts on this product? I would love to hear about the other blushes too if you have the other colours!

  1. I have always wanted to try benefit blushes but they seem to all have sparkles in them.. glad to know that it’s not that obvious in this one! I might have to check it out!
